Logistics is a big challenge when installing telecommunications infrastructure for Australia’s largest master planned community. Multiple suppliers and trades would be required to to ensure the construction programme is delivered on time. Quality control and safety would be the major risks to manage on such a large site with many subcontractors.
PON Projects is constructing the Gigabyte Passive Optical Network (GPON) for Springfield Lakes, a new 2,850-hectare community southwest of Brisbane. As the project manager for the GPON installation, we make certain the materials and trades are on site when required by planning the works with our delivery partners. Our cloud-based project management system enables us to manage quality and safety remotely and without paper.
Our work scope:
- Construction of pit, pipe and GPON to 3,500 homes
- Fibre to the home (FTTH) connections
- Project management
The GPON installation is running to schedule and budget because we collaborate with our subcontractors and manage the project through a centralised, paperless reporting system.
